The Famous ICP Play Dough Recipe!
Easy to make and always loved by our students. This is how we keep our play dough fresh (every two weeks). We make different colors and add glitter and even various scents to keep things interesting for our kids.
It makes an awful lot of play dough, so separating the batch and making multiple colors would be a great idea. Never again get upset when the kids mix the colors!
Store it in plastic food storage containers and it will last a long time (salt is a wonderful food preservative).
4 cups flour
2 cups salt
3 tablespoons Cream of Tartar
¼ cup of oil
4 cups of boiling water (must be boiling!)
Food Coloring or even an unsweetened Kool-Aid packet
Optional: Glitter, Scent
Mix (in stand mixer) the dry ingredients with the oil and 3 cups of boiling water. Use the remaining cup of hot water to mix the food coloring and then add to the rest of the mixture. Take out of mixer and knead with hands.
